Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic and Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna have collaborated to form an accountable care organization, according to a news release.
As an ACO, Carilion would buy administrative services through Aetna and Aetna would become the administrator of Carilion's employee health benefits plan. However, Carilion Clinic will continue to participate in existing health plan provider networks and accept Aetna and other private insurance plans.
