Three Chicago-area powerhouses are teaming up on pediatric care: University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital and NorthShore University HealthSystem.
The clinical collaboration builds on a joint operating agreement between Advocate Health Care and NorthShore. The partnership aims to strengthen clinical capabilities for pediatric care within the three health systems, accelerate innovation, and improve research coordination.
The collaboration will focus on three service lines: cardiology/cardiovascular surgery, general surgery and hematology/oncology.
Luca Vricella, MD, director of pediatric cardiac surgery at Advocate Children's and Comer Children's, will lead the cardiology service line. Jessica Kandel, MD, Comer Children's surgeon-in-chief and division director of pediatric general surgery at Advocate Children's, will lead the general surgery service line. Susan Cohn, MD, chief of pediatric hematology/oncology and dean of clinical research at UChicago Medicine, will lead the hematology/oncology service line.
