Female physicians indicated that long hours at work and rules and regulations were the two most challenging parts of the job, a Medscape report found.
"A Good Year for Paychecks: Medscape Female Physician Compensation Report 2023," released Oct. 23, surveyed more than 10,000 physicians across 19 specialties from Oct. 7, 2022, to Jan. 17.
Here are the most challenging parts of the job for female physicians:
Long hours at work — 20%
Rules and regulations — 19%
Dealing with difficult patients — 16%
Other — 12%
Working with an EHR system — 11%
Dealing with Medicare and/or other insurers for fair reimbursement — 11%
Worrying about being sued — 8%
Nothing — 3%
Risk associated with treating COVID-19 patients — 1%
