St. Peter's Health Partners Forms Physician Group Practice

Five independent physician practices have joined the newly formed St. Peter's Health Partners Medical Associates, a physician-governed group that is a full affiliate corporation of St. Peter's Health Partners in Albany, N.Y.

SPHP Medical Associates is modeled after established physician-governed corporations developed by systems such as Cleveland Clinic and Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa., according to SPHP. The group practice will strive to improve care coordination between primary care providers, specialists, hospitals and other care providers.

The five physician practices currently involved in SPHP Medical Associates are Pulmonary & Critical Care Services; Braverman-Panza Medical Group; William Hennessey, GYN; Altamont Pediatrics and Internal Medicine and some divisions of Prime Care Physicians. These practices include 106 physicians and 30 advanced practitioners.

The physicians from the practices that formed SPHP Medical Associates will be joined later this year by 151 physicians and 36 advanced practitioners who are already employed by SPHP or its affiliates.
