Kansas City, Kan.-based Providence Medical Center has acquired Family Medical Group PA, a six-physician practice in Kansas City, according to a Kansas City Business Journal report.
The hospital and primary care practice had been in talks for more than a year, but financial issues hampered the deal. Providence Medical Center was sold to Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services in 2013, which facilitated a financial turnaround that made this acquisition possible, according to the report.
"It's nice for us to solidify a group of physicians that want to practice at Providence and continue to grow," Providence Medical Center CEO Randy Nyp told the Kansas City Business Journal. The hospital plans to add one more primary care physician this summer, according to the report.
