A budget, proposed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich, would give medical schools in the state about $200 million over a two-year period, according to a News and Sentinel report.
The money would go toward primary care provider training by the 2015 budget year, and medical deans would need to brainstorm ways to encourage students to pursue primary care careers, according to the report. Schools that don't come up with a plan could lose some state funding.
Ohio's legislature has approved a budget, but Gov. Kasich has not yet signed it.
