Powell Valley (Wyo.) Healthcare CEO Paul Cardwell said the hospital is "well on the way" toward its goal of recruiting eight to 10 new physicians within the next six months, according to a Powell Tribune news report.
Specifically, the hospital is hoping to bring on board two OB/GYN physicians, a full-time orthopedic surgeon, family practice physician and three-day-per-week cardiologist. Mr. Cardwell also hopes to start up radiation oncology and chemotherapy services at the hospital and recruit more specialists to act as visiting physicians.
Mr. Cardwell, who became CEO this month, said physician recruitment could significantly increase hospital revenue from its stagnant $4.5 million to approximately $5.5 million-$6 million. The potential increase in revenue will also allow the hospital to bring on dialysis, a new and much needed but expensive service line. Mr. Cardwell said he will make a recommendation to the hospital board next week regarding facility updates to accommodate the increasing number of hospital physicians, according to the news report.
