Patient's Care Medical Center in Tennessee to Launch Accountable Care Model

Patient's Care Medical Center in Erin, Tenn., will be using a new care model, which could help Medicaid and Medicare save money, according to a Leaf Chronicle report.

Louisville, Ky.-based Signature Health Care is in the process of developing an operating agreement for the cash-strapped hospital in Tennessee. Signature intends to establish a rural healthcare network partnership with the medical center in Erin and a nursing home in Erin Signature already operates. The accountable care partnership will extend to larger hospitals in Nashville, Tenn, according to the report.

Signature plans to implement an accountable care model in its facilities throughout the southeast, and state and federal officials will use quality metrics to determine whether Signature's model could save money for TennCare, the state's Medicaid program as well as for Medicare.

"It's hard to believe that we could be on the cutting edge of healthcare at a little hospital in Erin, Tennessee," said Barry Cotton, the administrator of Signature Health Care's nursing home in Erin.
