Oswego (N.Y.) Health and Syracuse (N.Y.) Orthopedic Specialists have formed a partnership that will bring SOS orthopedic surgeons to Oswego County to provide care.
Here are three things to know about the partnership.
1. Under the partnership, the SOS staff will work alongside Oswego Health's orthopedic team to provide office visits at the Oswego Health Services Center and perform surgeries in Oswego Hospital's surgery center, according to a news release. The SOS staff includes 28 orthopedic surgeons, most specializing and offering care for knees, hips, hands and upper extremities, feet/ankle or the spine. Oswego Health currently has one independent orthopedic surgeon and two employed orthopedic surgeons on the medical staff.
2. Details on the implementation of SOS care locally are currently being coordinated. However, both parties expect that the Syracuse orthopedic group will use Oswego Health facilities this summer.
3. "This is a great opportunity for us to offer high-quality efficient care in Oswego County. Healthcare keeps changing and I think the future is all about collaboration and looking at the best way to provide effective care," Mike Humphrey, SOS CEO, said in a prepared statement. "Most importantly, I think this new relationship will assist in coordinating care with an individual's primary care physician, as well with any physical therapy services that may be needed," he added.
