Physician Associates, a 95-physician group based in Altamonte Springs, Fla., has chosen Orlando (Fla.) Health over Florida Hospital Orlando to begin acquisition talks, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.
The multispecialty group, which has 25 locations in central Florida, is expected to finalize negotiations in the next few weeks to merge by Jan. 1.
Florida Hospital was aggressively pursuing the purchase of Physician Associates, according to the report, but lost the bid to Orlando Health, which includes eight hospitals and roughly 2,200 physicians.
