Northwestern Memorial to Open 9 New Clinics in Chicago Suburbs

Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare is expanding its physician base from the city's north side to sites near the Illinois-Wisconsin border, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The system is pursuing a $20 million expansion for its Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group that includes nine new clinic locations by spring 2013. Northwestern is also expected to add up to 100 new physicians within the next two years, which would nearly double the number of the physicians in the group today.

Four of those nine clinics have already opened in Grayslake, Highland Park, Lake Forest and the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. Northwestern also has made a mark in Chicago's northwest suburbs, as it acquired Lake Forest (Ill.) Hospital in 2010.
