CVS to affiliate with Rush, Tucson Medical Centers

CVS Health announced Tuesday two new clinical affiliations to integrate EHR systems and provide prescription and patient visit information with medical centers in Illinois and Arizona.

The affiliations, established with Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center and Tuscon (Ariz.) Medical Center and its accountable care organization, Arizona Connected Care, will provide patients with clinical support, medication counseling, chronic disease monitoring and wellness services at CVS locations, including both the retail pharmacies and the MinuteClinic urgent care locations.

The integrated EHR systems will include a messaging system with alerts from the pharmacy to physicians about medication non-adherence issues and electronic summaries from any MinuteClinic visits for participating physicians. Non-affiliated physicians receive MinuteClinic summaries via fax or mail.

CVS Health is now affiliated with more than 50 health systems and providers, according to the statement.
