ChenMed will add 20 new practices to its network in 2020, the Miami-based primary care provider for at-risk seniors said Dec. 3.
The practices will be in five new cities: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Memphis, Tenn., Orlando, Fla., and St. Louis. In total, ChenMed will grow its service to 80 centers across 10 states.
ChenMed is recruiting primary care physicians to serve the at-risk seniors. ChenMed provides a concierge-like service to its patients, with seniors getting the personal cellphone numbers of their physicians for timely replies, texts and calls.
ChenMed said its providers manage about 400 patients each, much lower than the national average of 2,300 patients per primary care physician. Payment is mainly through Medicaid and Medicare plans.
Since 2010, ChenMed has seen average annual growth of more than 35 percent.
