Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, its network of community hospitals and its physician group, Beth Israel Deaconess Physician Organization, have formed an accountable care organization, effective Jan. 1.
In the ACO, the hospitals and independent physician groups will contract and share risk together to improve quality and efficiency. Hospitals and physicians are in a 50-50 partnership and share governance of the ACO, which is called Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization.
As part of the agreement, BIDMC and BIDPO will jointly invest $12 million over five years in order to improve care coordination infrastructure.
