Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. is in a state of reorganization and trying to expand cardiology services after 14 cardiologists left the hospital after a 30-year alliance, according to a Journal News report.
The physicians were with Cardiology Consultants of Westchester and left over concerns about hospital finances and control over patient care, according to the report. The physicians, including the physician who treated former President Bill Clinton, left in July and joined NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center. They no longer refer patients to WMC, which has reportedly caused a significant decline in the hospital's cardiovascular patient volume.
WMC officials said the hospital has hired new physicians and expanded its cardiology services.
