West Virginia Legislature Passes Hospital Fee

The West Virginia Legislature has approved a temporary provider tax for acute-care hospitals in the state, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.

Revenue generated from the fee will go toward the state's Medicaid program and would be used to increase federal matching funds. The fee will expire on June 30, 2013.

The legislation now heads to Governor Earl Ray Tomblin for his signature.
