Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., has announced plans to develop a hospital in Davie County (N.C.) to replace Davie County Hospital, according to a Winston-Salem Journal report.
The hospital will be built in two phases. The first phase, which will cost $60 million, will include a medical office building, and a second building for outpatient, emergency and diagnostic services. The second phase, which will cost $25 million, includes a 25-bed inpatient facility.
Groundbreaking for the first phase is scheduled to begin in early 2012 and will be complete in fall or winter of 2013. Phase two isn't expected to be complete until 2017, according to the report.
Novant Health, also based in Winston-Salem, is currently developing a 50-bed, $100 million hospital just four miles from the Wake Forest site.
