UPMC announced the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh will open the eighth express care center in Erie, Pa., Monday Dec. 15.
The walk-in clinic will be open after hours, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends. Board-certified pediatricians will provide care for minor injuries and illnesses such as asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, flu, sinus infections, bee stings, pink eye and simple fractures. X-rays and other testing services will be available. Copayments are expected to be much less expensive than those in the emergency room.
Existing express care centers are located in Lawrenceville, Monroeville, Natrona Heights, South Fayette, Washington Hospital, West Mifflin and Wexford.
