University of Pittsburgh first to launch Executive MBA program in healthcare

The University of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, in affiliation with UPMC, will launch the first Executive MBA program for healthcare professionals, according to UPMC officials.

The program is a 19-month accelerated MBA program designed to equip candidates with the skills necessary to lead and adapt to the ever-changing field of healthcare. It is set to launch in May 2017.

Katz is recognized as having one of the best executive MBA programs in the world. The university's affiliated hospital system is a leader in the health sciences industry, winning numerous awards and making its way onto Becker's Hospital Review's 100 great hospitals in America 2016.

"What sets our program apart from others is that we are drawing from the core strengths of Katz, the University of Pittsburgh, and UPMC to create a unique experience for our students," said William T. Valenta, assistant dean of executive and masters programs at the Katz Graduate School of Business. "They will learn from the best faculty at Katz and the top leaders at UPMC, all while building connections with other students in the program and the university alumni network."
