The Tennessee Hospital Association named Wendy Long, MD, its new president and CEO Aug. 23.
Dr. Long will succeed Craig Becker, who led the association for the past 26 years. He announced his retirement in April.
Dr. Long most recently served as the director of the Metro Public Health Department for Nashville/Davidson County. She also was deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration and served as director for the state's TennCare Medicaid program.
Nationally, Dr. Long has led policy efforts as a member of the National Committee for Quality Assurance's Standards Committee and the Health Advisory Panel of the Congressional Budget Office.
