Survey: Top 5 strategic initiatives of hospitals, health system executives

Hospital and health system executives ranked partnerships and affiliations among their highest current and near-term strategic priorities, according to a recent survey conducted by Hospital 100.

The 2015 National Hospital Leadership Survey was conducted in January and includes responses from more than 240 executives from all across the country.

Hospital and health system executives alike ranked the following strategic priorities highest among their current initiatives:

  • Partnership and affiliation
  • Cost containment and management
  • Physician alignment and engagement
  • Efficiency, quality and process improvement
  • Growth and expansion

Senior leaders also ranked the following strategic priorities highest among their future initiatives:

  • Partnership and affiliation
  • Risk-based payment
  • Population health management
  • Outpatient services
  • Telehealth

According to Hospital 100 Managing Director Eileen Baird, the results of the survey highlight the ongoing shift toward value-based care.

"As we look out over the next 18 months, it's clear that organizations are planning to embrace risk, enter into more creative partnerships and explore new means of delivering care," said Ms. Baird.
