Shands Jacksonville Seeks CON for New Facility

Shands Jacksonville (Fla.) will seek approval for a $125 million facility on Jacksonville's north side from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, according to a Florida Times-Union report.

The 110-bed facility, which would be called Shands Jacksonville Northside, could be completed as early as 2105 if a certificate of need is granted this year, according to the report.

Shands originally announced plans to build a Northside campus in 2007 but delayed construction due to the recession.

The campus will be developed in two phases and will include a medical office building and acute-care hospital.
