Many Americans are not on board with how President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers are working to repeal and replace the ACA, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
For the poll, conducted April 17 to April 20, researchers asked more than 1,000 U.S. adults various questions related to healthcare reform.
Here are three poll findings.
1. A vast majority (61 percent) of respondents want lawmakers to "keep and try to improve" the ACA, while 37 percent prefer "repeal and replace."
2. Forty-three percent of respondents want President Trump to work with Democrats in Congress to change the healthcare law, while 26 percent prefer he work with conservative Republicans in Congress. Twenty-four percent indicated "both equally."
3. Half of survey respondents were asked whether they are in favor of keeping the ACA's essential health benefits provision, which requires insurers to cover 10 specified conditions. According to the survey, 62 percent of Americans are in favor of keeping the federal requirements, while 33 percent believe states should decide what if any minimum coverage should be offered.
