Physician-Owned Hospital Advocates Head to Capitol Hill Seeking Section 6001 Reversal

Advocates for physician ownership of hospitals will head to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to ask Senators and Representatives to reverse Section 6001 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which prohibits POHs from new construction or expansion projects, according to a Physician Hospitals of America news release.

"We are committed as physicians and hospital owners to provide the highest quality of care for the communities in which we serve and reside," said Michael Russell, MD, PHA president. "We are heading to Capitol Hill to fight for the 285 communities we serve in 34 states, and the millions of patients who entrust us with their care."

PHA and Texas Spine and Joint Hospital in Tyler, Texas, recently filed their second motion requesting restrictions on physician-owned hospitals in healthcare reform be declared unconstitutional. https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/news-analysis/pha-texas-spine-and-joint-file-second-motion-to-invalidate-ban-on-physician-owned-hospitals.html
