Salisbury, Md.-based Peninsula Regional Medical Center plans to lay off 58 employees and offer buyouts to 130 more, according to a Delmarva Now report.
The cuts are in response to lower inpatient volumes, according to the report. PRMC is seeing 66 fewer patients on average than it did a year ago.
"With inpatient volumes declining, it's clear we needed to make staffing adjustments across all levels of the organization, and we'll continue to reassess those levels and other budget and supply needs throughout this current fiscal year and going forward," a hospital spokesman told Delmarva Now.
