Outsourcing at Wyoming Medical Center Could Impact 100 Employees

Officials at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper plan to outsource four different services that could affect roughly 100 employees, according to a Star-Tribune report.

WMC has been in discussions with two companies to outsource its plant engineering services, which include heating and ventilation, housekeeping, laundry and patient transport. The hospital has not signed any contracts.

Hospital officials said employees affected by the outsourcing may be able to work for the company, although no details have been finalized, the report said.

WMC is still waiting to hear whether it will lose $8 million in Medicare funding. The hospital may lose its "sole community provider" status and consequential federal funding as Mountain View Regional Hospital, a physician-owned facility in Casper, has grown its patient volume in the area.
