More than 500 nurses from Research Medical Center in Kansas City have reached a contract agreement with Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America, bringing a year and a half of negotiations to a close, according to a Kansas City Star report.
The nurses voted 74 percent in favor of unionization last week, and this week they will vote on the contract. Under the proposed contracts, a professional practice committee will make recommendations from staff nurses to the management team. It also includes committees where nurses will have the opportunity to work with management on nurse staffing practices.
The nurses are members of the National Nurses Organizing Committee-Missouri and National Nurses United.
