Emporia, Kan.-based Newman Regional Health plans to lay off 10 full-time and five part-time employees in a move to cut labor costs by 5 percent, according to an Emporia Gazette report.
In addition, the 53-bed hospital will leave five full-time and seven part-time positions vacant, and 29 Newman Medical Partners employees will have their hours reduced.
The staffing reductions are expected to save the hospital $1 million annually, according to the report. Newman Regional is on track to lose $3.5 million from operations this year.
Newman Regional has more than 500 employees, according to its website.
