A federal judge ordered former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli, 34, be sent to jail Sept. 13 after offering $5,000 to any individual who could "grab a hair" from Hillary Clinton during her upcoming book tour, The New York Times reports.
The former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals made inflammatory comments about Ms. Clinton last week on Facebook. During a hearing Sept. 13 in federal district court, Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto sided with prosecutors, stating Mr. Shkreli's comments could be perceived as a threat, the report states.
Mr. Shkreli's lawyer argued during the hearing the comments represented a "momentary lapse in judgement" and "stupid doesn't make you violent," according to The NYT.
Mr. Shkreli, 34, was previously convicted on three counts of securities fraud in August. He was free on $5 million bail while awaiting sentencing when he made the comments about Ms. Clinton.
Mr. Shkreli will be held at a federal jail in Brooklyn, N.Y.
