Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Crystal Lake, Ill.-based Centegra Health System will have another chance later this year to convince the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to approve their certificate of need applications to build new hospitals in McHenry County, Ill., according to a Northwest Herald report.
Both health systems were denied to requests to build hospitals in the county last week. Centegra had applied to build a $233 million, 128-bed facility in Huntley, Ill., while Mercy proposed a $200 million, 128-bed hospital in nearby Crystal Lake.
Joe Hylak-Reinholtz, a healthcare lawyer in McGuireWoods' Chicago Office said the Board members "expressed some hesitancy about their decisions," according to the report, indicating that the Board may be swayed to approve at least one of the projects in the future.
In the same hearing, the Board approved a $118 million, 94-bed facility in Shiloh, Ill., by memorial Hospital – Belleville (Ill.), according to the report.
