Dr. Alessio Fasano has joined Reckitt, a global consumer health company, as chief science and medical officer of its Mead Johnson Nutrition line.
In this role, Dr. Fasano will manage the science program for Enfamil, a $3.2 billion infant formula brand. He plans to step down from his position as division chief of pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital, though he will maintain his role as director of its mucosal immunology and biology research center. Dr. Fasano will also continue his duties as a professor at Harvard University, also in Boston.
Dr. Fasano is a well-known pediatric gastroenterologist specializing in the treatment of patients with gluten-related disorders and allergies. He is the author of more than 450-peer reviewed studies, including groundbreaking research in 2003 that estimated the prevalence of celiac disease in the U.S.
