The Maryland Health Care Commission is expected to rule next month on a certificate of need request for a new hospital in Montgomery County, ending a years-long battle between two health systems vying to build in the area, according to a Washington Post report.
Adventist Healthcare, which operates Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville, Md., and Washington Adventist in Takoma Park, Md., and Trinity Health's Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md., have both filed a certificate of need with the state to build hospitals in the county. The proposed locations would be only a few miles apart, and the commission is not expected to approve both, according to the report.
Adventist has proposed an 86-bed hospital in Clarksburg, Md., while Holy Cross proposed a 93-bed hospital in Germantown, Md.
