Miami-based public Jackson Health System and labor union American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees will ask Miami-Dade County Commissioners to resolve their dispute rather than seek formal mediation for their ongoing labor negotiations, according to a Miami Herald report.
AFSCME and Jackson have been unable to agree on contract terms for some time. Jackson recently signed agreements with another major union representing the system's employees. In February, Jackson and the SEIU, representing Jackson's nurses and other clinicians, agreed to a new contract that included an end to furlough days for the workers, according to the report.
