Washington, D.C.-based Howard University is cutting 200 positions over the next few months, some of which may affect employees at its teaching hospital, Howard University Hospital, according to a Washington Post report.
The workforce reduction comes as the university attempts to "enhance and achieve operational efficiencies," a university spokesperson told the Washington Post. "This includes difficult but necessary actions as we realign and re-engineer our workforce at the university and the hospital."
Howard University employs 5,474 people, including hospital staff, according to the report.
