The House Committee on Education and the Workforce has approved the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, which is part of the House Republican jobs agenda aimed at removing regulatory hurdles to job creation.
The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act also ensures employers are able to participate in a fair union election process; guarantees workers have the ability to make a fully informed decision in a union election; reinstates the traditional standard for determining which employees will vote in the union election; and safeguards privacy by allowing workers to decide the type of personal information provided to a union.
The bill, which is backed by the American Hospital Association, would stop the National Labor Relations Board from moving forward with a proposed rule for representation case procedures. In late August, the AHA and others urged the NLRB to abandon or significantly modify its proposed rule.
