Harris County Hospital District in Houston, Texas, has changed its name to Harris Health System, effective yesterday.
The new name is intended to better represent the system as one of the largest integrated health systems in the region, according to a news release. Harris Health System includes three hospitals, 16 health centers, seven school-based clinics, five mobile health units and 15 clinics in homeless shelters, among other facilities.
"The new name underscores our commitment to providing the best patient-focused care possible. We are our region's leading integrated healthcare system, and we are champions for the health of all of the people and families of Harris County. Our new name better reflects our position as a leading healthcare system in Harris County," said David S. Lopez, president and CEO of the health system, in the release.
