People's City Mission Medical Clinic, a free medical care clinic in Lincoln, Neb., cut its physician assistant position — the only paid position at the facility, according to 1011 Now.
Now the clinic will be fully staffed with volunteers, instead of any paid positions. As the clinic expands, it can't afford any full-time positions, according to CEO Pastor Tom Barber.
"What's happening right now is our cost of the shelter is expanding, we get almost all of our finances from the public or donations and as we have to divert more of our resources to the shelter we have to take a little less out of some of the other operations we have," Mr. Barber said, according to the report.
The medical clinic, which offers free medical, dental and mental health services, served nearly 16,000 people last year. It costs $250,000 per year to operate.
