Florida Gov. Rick Scott Releases $35M for Jackson Health

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has agreed to release $35 million in state funds to keep struggling Jackson Health in Miami up and running through the summer, according to a Miami Herald report.

The move comes after Gov. Scott met with Jackson Health's new CEO, Carlos Migoya. Without the funds, Jackson would have faced a "severe cash crunch in July," according to the report.

Gov. Scott previously withheld the funding, which the state legislature had approved last year. The funding was contingent on Jackson's ability to offer a plan to make the health system more efficient. Gov. Scott's office had determined plans previously offered by Jackson Health were "insufficient," according to the report.
