Eastern Niagara Hospital to Lay Off 60 in Restructuring Plan

Lockport, N.Y.-based Eastern Niagara Hospital is laying off 60 employees as it consolidates inpatient and surgical services from its Newfane, N.Y., location to its Lockport facility, according to a WIVB report.

The location in Newfane will maintain emergency services and some outpatient services, according to the report. The layoffs will cut the Newfane facility's workforce in half, reducing it from 123 to 63.

The hospital's CEO Clair Haar noted decreasing hospitalization and a shift toward increased outpatient services as the reason for the changes.
