Create better healthcare capacity in the face of greater constraints: The fourth annual Transform Healthcare Summit takes place December 6-7, 2022

As much as we would like to move on from the pandemic, hospitals and health systems continue to face extreme challenges in delivering optimal care. Staffing and provider coverage constraints, increased patient acuity, rising costs, and capacity constraints have compounded the pressure.  A September 2022 report by Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC that was released by the AHA shows that due to these factors, 2022 will prove to be the most financially difficult year for hospitals and health systems since the start of the pandemic. Limiting care access to match reduced capacity and resources is not an option; instead, learning how to expand that capacity is now essential. Operational transformation is no longer a luxury for healthcare organizations, it is a requirement.

To address these new realities, LeanTaaS, the leading healthcare analytics company, will hold its fourth annual Transform Hospital Operations Virtual Summit on December 6-7th, 2022. The summit’s theme is achieving ROI through AI to unlock scarce capacity in operating rooms, inpatient bed units, and infusion centers.

Hosted in partnership with Becker’s Healthcare, Transform will gather health system executives, technology leaders, and industry experts. Discussions will center on digitizing traditional operational processes to create lasting financial improvements by deploying smart analytics tools. Session speakers will discuss their strategies and results, including increased patient access, reduced manual administrative tasks, and optimized expensive assets that result in delayed capital expenditures.

Close to 4,000 healthcare attendees are slated to join the two-day program and explore how they can use AI, machine learning, and data science to solve critical challenges arising from staffing shortages, increased patient demand, limited capital, and provider burnout. The second day will feature a special focus on the infusion space, with stories, insights, and best practices from centers across the country that are experiencing increased demand for life-saving services.

Speakers include C-suite and executive hospital and health system leaders who have transformed operations and achieved ROI using AI and machine learning solutions, such as Angela Yochem, EVP, Chief Transformation & Digital Officer at Novant Health, Brian Dawson, System VP of Perioperative Services at CommonSpirit Health, and Pradipta Komanduri, Chief Operating Officer at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. Additional speakers represent Allegheny Health Network, Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center of McKinney, Henry Ford Health, Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, SCL Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, and The University of Kansas Health System.

Many of these organizations have already achieved significant results, navigating difficult capacity constraints and providing more care through the use of technology. Some outcomes include:

  • Increasing surgical volume by 8% despite a 7% decrease in available ORs
  • Achieving an 8% decrease in avoidable days and a 16% decrease in time to admit despite an 18% increase in inpatient admissions
  • Growing patient volume 33% in existing infusion capacity while planning a major site expansion

“The lingering effects of the pandemic, from staff shortages to the rising prices of critical supplies, drugs, and equipment are still with us and have had a profound impact on hospital and health system bottom lines the past year,” said Mohan Giridharadas, LeanTaaS founder and CEO. “We look forward to bringing everyone together this December to effectively address these mounting challenges. By embracing a culture of innovation and deploying proven and scalable AI-driven, intelligent, and virtually distributed systems, we can change healthcare delivery for the better for both patients and providers.”
