County Officials Want Closed-Door Meeting on Jackson Health's Strategy

In Florida, Miami-Dade county commissioners are requesting a closed-door meeting to hear the details of Jackson Health System's strategic plan, according to a Miami Herald report.

The system's chief strategy officer, Jeffrey Crudele, assumed his post roughly two weeks ago. He presented some "initial thoughts" on the system's strategy to a governing board yesterday, but Commissioner Sally Heyman persuaded a majority of commissioners to call for a closed-door meeting to hear more. In the news report, Ms. Heyman expressed her frustration with "asking questions and getting no answers" from the system.

Jackson CEO Carlos Migoya said his team has "a common vision" but "no formal 200-page document" on its strategic plan, according to the report. He said he saw no need for a closed-door meeting.

The strategic plans Mr. Crudele presented Thursday include hiring 100 primary care physicians in the next 36 months and making $608 million in capital improvements to make Jackson facilities more appealing to patients.
