Christine M. Candio, MPA, RN, was appointed CEO of St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo., in October. Her new role is set to begin in January 2015.
For the last six years, Ms. Candio served as CEO of Inova Alexandria (Va.) Hospital, a 318-bed, nonprofit facility, and as senior vice president of the Inova Health System, based in Falls Church, Va.
Beginning her career in healthcare as a nurse, Ms. Candio progressed through nursing leadership ranks at several hospitals. Through her clinical experience, Ms. Candio gained valuable insight into patient care that she's carried into the several operations and senior executive leadership roles she has held over the past three decades.
"Her background as a nurse really brings a very deep understanding of matters that we all care about in terms of the organization and delivery of health care to vulnerable populations in incredibly complex systems," Patricia Cloonan, PhD, RN, interim dean and associate professor of Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies in Washington D.C., said of Ms. Candio.
