Boston-based Partners HealthCare System — the parent company to Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital — has posted a more than five-fold increase in its second quarter operating income, according to a Boston Globe report.
The company recorded an operating income of $71 million on revenue of $2.1 billion for the three months ending March 31. In the same period in 2010, Partners recorded $13 million in operating income on revenue of $1.9 billion.
Partners has cited a boost in research revenue and higher payments for complex care at its Boston teaching hospitals as factors influencing the increase.
