Question: What are your top priorities for 2022?

Michelle Stansbury: We are working on some major themes that we call our 2030 Vision. Some will get more attention than others this year, but it will be important for us to research what is currently available versus what is on the horizon to help meet our goals. A few areas we’re focused on include our “smart hospital of the future,” which will break ground this year, remote monitoring, redefining access, workforce of the future, and more mentioned below.

  • Redefining Access
  • Hospital at Home and Remote Monitoring
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Imaging Reimagined
  • Voice over Type

Q: How do you plan to pivot strategies this year to better serve patients?

MS: Patients are at the center of everything we do at Houston Methodist. While much of our attention has been on COVID, we’re excited about our renewed focus on enhancing the patient experience with some of the initiatives mentioned above.

Q: What technologies and innovations are you most excited about in healthcare right now?

MS: Voice, artificial intelligence, and most definitely those that improve the patient experience. But, I have to say our “smart hospital of the future” is one we’re all excited about. It’s a testament to Houston Methodist’s commitment to innovation, and we’re embedding much of the smart technology and innovations we’ve piloted in our Center of Innovation to help make this ninth hospital in our system the most technologically advanced and patient-centric.

Q: What advice do you have for emerging healthcare leaders today?

MS: Never settle for status quo – continually challenge yourself to search for new technology that can improve overall patient and clinical experiences and increase efficiencies.
