Question: What do innovators/entrepreneurs from outside healthcare need to better understand about hospital and health system leaders?
Les Jebson: That the services provided involve human life and human outcomes. Makes our industry fairly unique.
Q: Healthcare takes a lot of heat for not innovating quickly. What's your take on this?
LJ: I believe a balance must be struck between the rapid adoption of new technologies, interventions and therapies, balancing this with scientific rigor, safety and ensured quality.
Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?
LJ: My father instilled in me that the greatest teams are formed by surrounding oneself with individuals who are equally driven and of greater intellect. I feel such teams are synonymous with academic medicine.
