Question: What one strategic initiative will demand the most of your time and energy in 2019?
Charles Emerman: Further enhancing our response to the substance abuse crisis through the establishment of an addiction medicine fellowship and other initiatives
Q: Tell us about the last meaningful interaction you had with a patient.
CE: Patient who was brought directly from County jail on her way to a protected living environment. She was very appreciative that I was able/willing to start her on medication assisted treatment to avoid a relapse.
Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?
CE: Our nursing staff does tremendous work under significant pressure. They are calm, considerate, and kind to the patients. They are the fearsome line of defense that keeps the Department operating in a safe compassionate manner.
