Amazon's Jeff Bezos on the 1 piece of advice he gives his kids

Amazon CEO, Founder and Chairman Jeff Bezos' career advice to his four children involves loving what you do and focusing on your work instead of your innate talents, CNBC reports.

Mr. Bezos spoke during global nonprofit FIRST's Inspire Gala in New York City Nov. 7. He said his children and other young professionals in the early stages of their careers should draw their happiness and sense of fulfillment from their work, not their innate talents. He also noted that young professionals should aim to pursue their passions because doing so is "going to make it easier for you to make that choice to work hard."

"You'll get to work with like-minded people and you're going to energize the room. If you're doing something you love, the day is going to be so fun," Mr. Bezos added.

Mr. Bezos said changing one's mind about their passions at various stages in life is OK; he admitted even he was wrong about his first passion.

"I thought I wanted to be a scientist when I went to Princeton. I thought I wanted to be a physicist and halfway through, I figured out I wasn't smart enough to be a physicist," he said.  "You've gotta figure out what you love. And it's going to bring you great joy."
