E-commerce giant Amazon is hiring top talent to help guide its push into the healthcare sector, according to Nasdaq.
Here are four things to know:
1. Amazon recently hired Jason Tzau, PharmD, to oversee its employee benefits plan. Dr. Tzau will help roll out initiatives to improve Amazon's healthcare benefits program and service. He'll also serve as a liaison between the company's employee benefits team and Amazon's healthcare venture with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase.
2. In August, Amazon hired Maulik Majmudar, MD, who previously served as a cardiologist and associate director of the transformation lab at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital. It's not yet clear which healthcare team he'll be joining at Amazon, according to Nasdaq.
3. Amazon also added Martin Levine, MD, and Taha Kass-Hout, MD, to its team. Dr. Levine previously served as a geriatrician at Boston-based Iora Health's Seattle branch. Dr. Kass-Hout is the former chief health informatics officer for the FDA.
4. Amazon is looking to hire more healthcare talent. The company posted a job vacancy for a data scientist to work at its venture with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan, according to Nasdaq.
