The following healthcare layoffs have been reported by Becker's Hospital Review since Dec. 1.
1. Indiana long-term care hospital to close, lay off 120 employees
Vibra Hospital of Fort Wayne (Ind.), a long-term acute care hospital, will lay off 120 employees when it closes Jan. 31.
2. Missouri psychiatric hospital to close, lay off 129 employees
Two Rivers Behavioral Health System in Kansas City, Mo., revealed plans to close the psychiatric hospital, effective Feb. 9.
3. Bay Medical to lay off up to half of 1,450 staff
Panama City, Fla.-based Bay Medical Sacred Heart revealed on Dec. 4 it expects to lay off 635 staff members early in 2019 once it reopens.
4. Cancer Treatment Centers of America lays off 50 in Atlanta
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America laid off 50 employees in Atlanta.
5. Pennsylvania hospital closure will result in 505 layoffs
Harrisburg, Pa.-based UPMC Pinnacle will close its hospital in Lancaster, Pa., March 1, resulting in the layoff of 505 employees.
6. Illinois long-term care hospital to close amid declining reimbursement
Vibra Hospital of Springfield (Ill.), a 50-bed, for-profit, long-term care facility, will close by March 31.
