Oregon's Southern Coos Hospital Opts Not To Extend CEO's Contract

The board of Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon, Ore., has decided not to extend the contract of CEO Jim Wathen, according to a report by Bandon Western World.

According to hospital board members, Mr. Wathen will remain with Southern Coos until his contract expires on June 30, 2011. He has been with the Southern Coos Health District for 15 years, and the board has renewed his two-year contract every year, so he has always worked for the district with a two-year agreement.

The board's decision arrives amid controversy over the hospital's budget and resignation of hospital chief financial officer Alan Dow, according to the report.
